Mayouf explained in statements to “Akhbar 24”, that the Health Insurance Council recently conducted a qualitative and distinctive update of the benefits, coverage limits, and the insurance drug guide, which included several areas, including focusing on protecting beneficiaries and enhancing their health, women’s and children’s health, improving the ability and physical functions of beneficiaries, quality of life, and limiting of complications of some diseases, and facilitate access to services and health care; Pointing out that the update will be applied to health insurance policies issued from October 1, 2022.
He expected an increase in insurance premiums for employers as a result of the expansion and comprehensiveness of insurance coverage, which will cause a rise in health claims on insurance companies, which in turn will have to raise insurance premiums to achieve two main goals, namely, fulfilling their financial obligations to health service providers, and making profits, noting that these effects will appear in The financial statements of insurance companies by the end of the fourth quarter of 2022 AD.
He noted that there is an urgent need for the council to have powers and legal cover over health service providers to make supervision and regulation more comprehensive; By issuing bylaws and regulations codifying this supervision and powers, explaining that the council seeks to integrate the system to achieve the goals of Vision 2030 as one of the projects of the health transformation program that will be announced soon.
