Lee Sunshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, delivered the New Year message to the Speaker.
Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka See Senhong called on Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena this morning and handed over the message of congratulations.
The Chinese Ambassador pointed out that the two sides are committed to strengthening bilateral cooperation between China and Sri Lanka this year.
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena thanked Lee Sunshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, for sending the congratulatory message.
The Speaker thanked China for its continued support to Sri Lanka.
The meeting was also attended by the Chief of the Parliamentary Staff and the Deputy Secretary General Kushani Rohanadeera.
Earlier, the Chinese President had sent a New Year message to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and former President Maithripala Sirisena.
