The general director of Education Planning, Inclusion and Innovation of the Government of the Canary Islands, David Pablos, closed this Sunday at the IES Domingo Pérez Minik in San Cristóbal de La Laguna some training sessions for teachers of the Newton Canary Islands Mathematics Project in which teachers They were trained in alternative methodologies for teaching mathematics.
The general objective of this project of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports, directed by Poli Suárez, is to improve the teaching and learning process of this subject.
Along these lines, it is committed to methodological strategies based on the construction of knowledge by students, exploring mathematical ideas through manipulation and experimentation with materials, emphasizing the importance of problem solving and encouraging teachers to reflect on their practice. teacher to incorporate changes that contribute to said improvement.
