Almost 15 years have passed since Ronaldinho wore the Barcelona shirt, in which he won the Ballon d’Or and the Champions League. 15 years later, the son of the Brazilian star, Joao de Asis, began testing in the Catalan team’s uniform.
The 17-year-old de Asis released his contract with the Brazilian Cruzeiro recently, and is now in Barcelona training at the Spanish club’s prestigious ‘La Messia’ academy. Compared to his father, he plays as a striker and his strong foot is left, but the Catalan media reports that the Brazilian left an impression on the club’s analysts and scouts.
Ronaldinho, who played for Barcelona between 2003 and 2008, made 207 appearances in which he scored 94 goals and assisted 70, and is currently one of the club’s ambassadors as a symbol and legend of the past. The whole move to bring Joao de Asis to the tests in Barcelona was in full cooperation with Juan Laporte, the current owner of the club, who is in direct contact with Ronaldinho.
