According to the prosecutor’s office, V. Tereshchenko, previously convicted of threats to kill and other crimes, on the afternoon of October 15, 2023, in a private house in Č. When a conflict broke out on Sasnauskas Street, he stabbed his 39-year-old friend in the thigh – the latter bled to death a few hours later in Kaunas clinics, never regaining consciousness.
The drinking took place in the part of the apparently orderly house where V. Tereshchenko lived, and his guest became the victim of violence.
At that time, more people were drinking alcohol – a 37-year-old woman was also suspected, but she was later recognized as a witness.
An ambulance was called after blood splattered after the stabbing. When the medics arrived, they saw pools of blood in the room: the wounded man had lost consciousness, his pulse had completely dropped. It turned out that he had severe damage to a blood vessel.
After the murder, V. Tereshchenko was found to have an average level of drunkenness (2.19 percent).
During the pre-trial investigation, the suspect did not give a detailed statement, only denied the murder.
At the Kaunas District Court on Monday, during the first hearing, when asked whether he confessed, the accused evaded a specific answer, stating that he would plead guilty and provide explanations when all the other participants in the case were questioned.
In the same case, V. Tereshchenko was charged with violence against another man she knew, whose ribs were broken three days before the murder, on October 12.
On Monday, the parents of the murdered man and the friend of the beaten man were questioned in court, and the next hearing will take place on September 16. The defendant is awaiting sentencing while in custody.
