In the assessment of the VDD, the greatest threat to Latvia’s national security in 2025 will continue to be the activities of Russian special services. Taking into account Russia’s desire to increase its influence in Latvia, the special services of the aggressor country will continue to deploy both intelligence activities and harmful activities against our country in the coming year, the service admitted to the LETA agency.
In the assessment of the VDD, the harmful actions organized by the Russian special services against various objects in Latvia could become more diverse and aggressive, as Russia tries to increase the feeling of insecurity in Latvian society and reduce the support provided by our country to Ukraine.
According to its competence, the VDD will continue to implement a set of systematic measures to detect and prevent activities organized by Russian special services on the territory of Latvia.
