The “Royal Blues” make a sensational announcement about X – and then backtrack shortly afterwards. The reason: a security gap – again.

Brazil’s soccer star Neymar is coming to FC Schalke 04 for ten games? What appeared briefly on the X platform on Friday morning sounded pretty absurd – and it was. Because a short time later, the second division club had the alleged club tweet removed from its X account.

“It is correct that there was another irregularity. This was deleted immediately,” a Schalke spokesman explained in response to a dpa query and confirmed that the club’s account had been hacked for the second time within a few days. Neymar, who is under contract with Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, will therefore not be coming to the Ruhr region. The mega-star, who once moved from Barcelona to Paris for a world record sum of 222 million euros, would not have been worth paying anyway.

Already on Tuesday evening, several mysterious posts had been published about the Schalke account on X. “Sorry, guys, now it’s got us too. #Hackers,” the club then announced. One post said: “We have big news for the crypto world! What do you think? Check out our next tweet!” The club then presented a supposedly new partnership from the crypto world.

The Royal Blues say they do not yet know who is behind these false reports and why they are the target. “The analysis has been running since Tuesday, we are in contact with the platform and all relevant internal and external interfaces,” the spokesperson explained a few hours before the game at Karlsruher SC. “We can only speculate as to why our account is the target.” The club has high security standards.
