Neymar’s transfer from FC Barcelona to Paris SG in 2017 shocked the football world. For the Brazilian star’s pass, the French were willing to pay 222 million euros and, consequently, carried out the most expensive transfer in the history of football. Seven years later, it is being investigated for alleged “tax favors”.

O Release had access to a report from the General Inspectorate of the National Police, which exposed an exchange of messages between Jean-Martial Ribes, former director of the Paris SG, Hugues Renson, former deputy and a former assistant at the official residence of the Presidency of the French Republic .
The French newspaper states that Jean-Martial Ribes, after contacts with Hugues Renson, asked the Minister of Public Accounts, Gérald Darmanin, to exempt the club from paying taxes on Neymar’s transfer. Jean-Martial Ribes, who has already been accused of corruption, reportedly asked to make the operation cheaper, which would cost the French club even more.
In addition to the messages, telephone calls are also being investigated where Martial Ribes insisted that Paris SG benefit from tax advantages in the transfer, in exchange for free entry to the Parc des Princes and other perks.
