The general director of Citizen Security of Nezahualcóyotl, Vicente Ramírez García, indicated that, for example, four complaints were recently filed for theft of motorcycles, acts allegedly committed by a gang based in Valle de Chalco.

The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico is already carrying out the corresponding investigations, he stated.

In turn, the mayor of Nezahualcóyotl, Adolfo Cerqueda, commented that warehouses and workshops where cars and motorcycles are looted have already been detected, which is why, he added, a program has already been started to tattoo auto parts and prevent their sale.

The program, Auto Seguro Neza, consists of tattooing rearview mirrors, windshields, medallion, skulls and headlights of cars to inhibit the theft of these auto parts, since this prevents them from being sold on the black market.

The daily average of vehicle theft in this mayor’s office is four, detailed the municipal president, who added that they are mainly parked motorcycles, which are later used to commit other crimes or to steal other vehicles.

He specified that most of the vehicles that are stolen to be taken to Valle de Chalco are Tsuru and Aveo.

He clarified that the program is, initially, only for vehicles belonging to residents of Nezahualcóyotl, even if the plates are not from the State of Mexico.
