NFL Finds Bengals in Compliance with Injury Report Policy Regarding Joe Burrow’s Wrist Injury

After a thorough review, the NFL has determined that the Cincinnati Bengals were in full compliance with the league’s injury report policy in relation to quarterback Joe Burrow’s wrist injury leading up to the team’s Week 11 game against the Ravens. This decision comes after scrutiny of a video and photo that showed Burrow wearing a wrap around his right hand and wrist the day before the game, despite not being listed on the injury report.

The league reviewed medical records, practice footage, and interviewed relevant medical personnel and Burrow himself before concluding that the Bengals were indeed in compliance with the policy. The NFL regularly monitors injury report compliance to uphold the integrity of the game, and violations of the policy can result in fines for the team and individuals involved, as well as potential loss of future draft picks.

Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury during the game against the Ravens after tearing a ligament midway through the second quarter. He underwent successful surgery on his wrist on November 27 and is expected to make a full recovery well ahead of the 2024 season.

As the Bengals continue their season, currently sitting at 6-6, they will host the Colts at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
