NHSO Reveals 7 Risk Groups Have Received Influenza Vaccination- Vaccine Limited

In a recent announcement, the National Health Security Office (NHSO) revealed that 2 million people, representing 69% of the target population, have received the influenza vaccination. The vaccination program, which began on May 1 and will run until August 31 or until the vaccine runs out, aims to protect at-risk Thai individuals from the seasonal flu.

Dr. Attaporn Limpanyalert, Deputy Secretary-General of the NHSO, provided an update on the progress of the vaccination service. From May 1 to July 19, 2023, a total of 2,008,642 individuals in at-risk groups have received the service. This accounts for 69.03% of the service goal.

The top 5 service units providing the most vaccinations are Surin Hospital, with 15,111 individuals or 83% of the goal; Samut Prakan Hospital, with 14,900 individuals or 66% of the goal; Udon Thani Hospital, with 13,792 individuals or 59% of the target group; Samut Sakhon Hospital, with 12,484 individuals or 67% of the target group; and Songkhla Hospital, with 9,395 individuals or 70% of the target group.

Among the provinces, Bangkok has provided the most vaccinations, with 148,461 individuals or 48% of the target population. Nakhon Ratchasima follows with 82,210 individuals, representing 44% of the target. Songkhla, Chiang Mai, and Ubon Ratchathani have also made significant progress, vaccinating 61,678, 57,199, and 55,284 individuals respectively.

Dr. Attaporn urged the 7 groups of Thai people at risk to prioritize getting the influenza vaccination service due to the onset of the rainy season. With the virus epidemic ongoing, it is crucial to take preventive measures. The Department of Disease Control has reported 67,460 influenza patients from January 1 to July 8, 2023, resulting in a morbidity rate of 101.95 per hundred thousand population.

The vaccination service is offered free of charge until August 31, or until the limited vaccine supply is exhausted. Urging the public to act quickly, Dr. Attaporn emphasized that whoever reaches the service units or hospitals first will be given priority. Individuals can contact their nearest service unit or hospital in the gold card system to access the vaccine.

For residents in the Bangkok area, advance reservations can be made through the “Health Bag” feature on the “Pao Tang” application. This will streamline the vaccination process and ensure a smooth experience for all concerned.

As the vaccination campaign for the seasonal flu progresses, it is hoped that more at-risk individuals will come forward to protect themselves and stay healthy during this challenging time. The NHSO continues to encourage the public to get vaccinated and take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the influenza virus.]
