The Government of Nicaragua decided today, Monday, to “recall” its ambassador in Argentina, Carlos Midence, due to the “statements and expressions” of the elected president Javier Milei, who had assured that he would not “promote” the relationship with that Central American country.

“Faced with the Installation and Taking of Possession of a new Government in the Argentine Republic, an inauguration that will take place on December 10, and in the face of repeated statements and expressions of the new Rulers, the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of Nicaragua has proceeded to withdraw its Ambassador, Fellow Writer and Communicologist, Carlos Midence,” the Nicaraguan Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated in a statement.

This decision, which will be made “immediately” before Milei takes office, is configured as a response to the statements that the president-elect had about the Central American country chaired by Daniel Ortega.

“I would not promote relations with communists, nor with Cuba, nor with Venezuela, nor with North Korea, nor with Nicaragua, nor with China,” Milei said in dialogue with the Bloomberg agency during the presidential campaign.

Midence is also a concurrent ambassador to the Government of Greece and held that same position in Spain.
