Valparai is the perfect place for those who want to spend a peaceful and memorable time away from all the hustle and bustle in a beautiful, hilly hamlet. Precious green expanses, tea plantations and winding paths help a lot in our quest for peace.

Located in the Anaimalai range of the Western Ghats, at an altitude of 3,500 feet above sea level, Valparai has a rustic charm and is surrounded by forests, tea plantations and coffee farms combine to create a spectacular sight. Melsolaiyar Dam, Neeraru Dam, Azhiyar Dam, Kurangu Aruvi, Balaji Temple (Karimalai), Velankanni Temple (Karimalai), Pancha Mukha Vinayagar Temple (Near Solaiyar) are some of the major places that attract us to visit. For trekkers, Valparai offers a unique experience. The Valparai range is also home to the Nilgiris. Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most famous attractions of Valparai. Cholaimanthi, keliyadu (barking deer), wild boars, Nilgiris and common manthi (langur) can be found here. Valparai is also a favorite spot for bird watchers as the mountain heron, Malabar white black heron and Malabar gray heron are here.

A narrow winding path covered with forest leads to Chinnakallar Falls. This place boasts the third highest rainfall. Chinnakalaru, shrouded in mist due to rains, is blessed with greenery. (Department of Tourism, Government of Tamil Nadu)
