It was belatedly revealed that an accident occurred at the Ho-Am Art Museum in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, where a young visitor accidentally dropped an artwork worth hundreds of millions of won on the floor.

According to the Ho-Am Art Museum on the 24th, during the Chuseok holiday on the 18th, a child was walking with his back turned to the artwork while looking at his cell phone at a solo exhibition by Swiss painter Nicolas Paty, and he hit the pedestal and dropped the artwork. The artwork in question is Paty’s triptych, “Tree and Tree.” A similar triptych was sold for $350,000 (approximately 460 million won) at the Frieze Seoul Art Fair held earlier this month. The exhibition of the artwork that fell to the floor was immediately closed.

The work is a small altarpiece made up of three arched screens, about 50cm high, that can be folded and unfolded. It fell to the floor, but the painting itself was not damaged, and two screws connecting the triptych were missing. After consulting with the artist, the museum repaired it and put it back on display on the 24th.

Party, a popular artist in the art market, mainly paints unique portraits or landscapes using pastels. In this exhibition, which is his first solo exhibition in Korea, he will present a total of 48 works, including five pastel murals created during his stay at the museum and 20 new paintings.
