The German Football Association (DFB) is continuing its unusual nomination practice. A fifth player has now been named who will take part in the European Championships.
The next player for the German national soccer team for the home European Championship in the summer has been announced. It’s Niclas Füllkrug. The DFB announced this via the WDR radio morning show “1Live”.
“I get goosebumps when I think about it,” said the BVB striker, who was connected by telephone, looking ahead to the tournament in a few weeks. “It makes me so proud.” Füllkrug’s provisional nomination is not surprising. He has scored eleven times in 15 international matches so far. He also scored four goals in six games under national coach Julian Nagelsmann.
“You should understand that he is planning with you”
Füllkrug also said about Nagelsmann on the radio: “We talked in private for a long time at the last course. If he has conversations like that and you’re not taken aback, you should understand that he’s planning with you.”
National coach Nagelsmann will announce the complete provisional squad on Thursday (1 p.m.) in Berlin. However, some professionals have already been identified.
Nominations previously via Instagram, “Tagesschau” and “Exclusiv”
First the European Championship nomination of BVB professional Nico Schlotterbeck was announced on Monday evening in the “Tagesschau”, then that of defender Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen followed in a social media clip by geriatric nurse Rashid Hamid on Instagram on Tuesday.
