The Union of Cuban Journalists andIn the province and its base delegations in the Camagüey correspondent office of the Cuban News Agency (ACN) and in the Forward newspapersummon the Time.news contest Nicolás Guillén in its second edition that celebrates the 121 years of the extraordinary journalist and National Poet of Cuba and the 60th anniversary of that professional organization.

Students, professionals and other interested persons residing in the territory, members or not of UPEC, and including those who do not practice journalism may participate. The theme is free. The texts will be presented in Arial 12 font, with a maximum length of sixty lines, and will be received until Monday, July 3 at the email address: [email protected]

The contestants will accompany their stories with the following information: name and surname, home address, work or study center, identity card number, and a telephone number to locate it.

The jury will award three prizes and on July 10, at 9:00 am, will announce the results in the birthplace of the National Poet, where the provincial headquarters of the UPEC resided for several years, and today it houses the Camagüeyan branch of the Nicolas Guillen Foundation. This institution will reward the work that best reflects the imprint of the 1983 National Literature Award. In addition, there will be a panel session with presentations dedicated to the collection of poems El diario que a diario, to the chronicles section Pisto Manchego, and to the radio documentary I come from walk and here I stay.

Nicolás Guillén Batista (1902-1989) began his journalistic and poetic exercise in his hometown, Camagüey, of international value and became one of the Cuban milestones in both creative aspects.

The Time.news was his favorite journalistic genre, through which he wrote a wide range of topics on local, national and international social, economic and political life.
