The duo left their “bad day” in singles behind and made it to the next round with an important victory.
Great news comes from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, after the national duo made up of Nicolas Jarry and Alejandro Tabilo will advance to the second round of the men’s doubles draw.
The Chilean tennis players showed a great level and won by 6-3, 7-6 Y 10-5 to the Italian couple of Luciano Darderi and Lorenzo Musetti in more than an hour and a half of play, to continue their path to the round of 16 of the competition.
In the first set, Jarry and Tabilo only needed one break to tip the balance in their favor and win 6-3.
In the second set, the duel was more even and everything was decided in the tiebreak, where the Italians won 7-5.
After that, the match went to a tiebreaker through the super tiebreak, in which Team Chile fought back from behind and came back from 2-4 to seal an important victory to gain confidence for the next match.
Thus, Chilean tennis added its first victory in the doubles draw at the Olympic Games after 20 years, when Nicolás Massú and Fernando González won the gold medal in Athens 2004.
