New Delhi: The police are ready to take the detailed statement of the girl who died after the car that hit her was dragged along the road in Kanchawala. It was found that a girl named Nidhi, who was with the deceased Anjali Singh, was on the back of the scooter at the time of the accident. The police said that the woman said that she was not injured in the accident. Nidhi is now an eye witness in the case. She fled the scene. Nidhi’s statement is crucial in this case,” said a senior police officer.
Anjali and Nidhi came out at 1.45 am after the New Year party held at a hotel not far from the accident site. It is clear from the CCCT footage that Nidhi was driving the scooter when the journey started. Anjali is wearing a pink t-shirt and Nidhi is wearing a red t-shirt. It is suggested that Anjali expressed her desire to ride a scooter occasionally and Nidhi would have handed over the scooter. Then disaster struck.
Anjali’s body was found with all her clothes torn in Kanchawala, Sultanpur, Outer Delhi on Sunday morning. Deepak Khanna (26) who was driving the car, Amit Khanna (25), Krishnan (27), Mithun (26) and Manoj Mittal (27) who were with him were arrested. They said that they did not see the woman trapped under the car. Deepak Khanna told the police that while he was driving, he felt something was stuck, but others refused to check.
Later, when the vehicle reached Kanchawala, while making a U-turn, the woman noticed that she was trapped under the car. Mithun, who was in the front seat of the car, saw Anjali’s hands while making a U-turn. With this, the youth who stopped the vehicle left the dead body and passed by. Anjali was dragged along the road for about 13 km.
Anjali, who worked in an event management firm, was the breadwinner of a family consisting of a mother, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. His father died a few years ago. The police first received a message from the control room at 3.24 am on Sunday that the woman was found trapped under the car. On 4.11 received the same message while investigating. Later, the body was found near Shiny Bazar in Krishan Vihar. The scooter was also found. The accused were caught after examining the CCTV footage.
