Niger: The risk of a military operation, the jihadist threat and the US ambiguity

Niger has been under the control of the coup leaders since the end of July. The threat of a military intervention by ECOWAS remains, but as a very secondary option given the complicated situation in the region. Added to the risk of a high humanitarian cost is the possibility of destabilizing the area, benefiting radical Islamist groups.
