Abuja: In the shooting that took place on Sunday in the Nigerian state of Ondo. More than 50 people were killed. The shooting happened during a prayer service at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ondo.
A group of armed men opened fire on worshipers during prayers. They hurled explosives at the church and destroyed it.
Many believers had gathered at the church for Sunday morning Mass. It was at that time that the attack took place. According to the report, the gunmen first threw explosives at the altar of the church and smashed the altar.

Several women and children were reported killed in the attack. Many of the seriously injured are now being treated in hospitals. The death toll is expected to rise further.
But no one has claimed responsibility for the attack. The motive behind the attack is not yet clear. This is the first time such an attack has taken place in Ondo.
Ondo State Governor Oluvarotimi Oluvarotimi Akeredolu said Sunday’s attack on the church was a vicious and vicious incident and that a concerted effort had been launched to find the perpetrators. He appealed to the locals to keep the peace and be vigilant.
Pope Francis has expressed his condolences on the death of the faithful. Nigerian President Mohammed Buhari also condemned the attack.
