Police Reports: Night Events in Piteå Festival
PITEÅ – Last night’s events during the Piteå dances and smiles festival were largely peaceful, although there were a few incidents that required police intervention.
At 02:31, a grocery store in central Piteå was the target of vandalism. An unknown person smashed a window, prompting a police patrol to attend the scene. The authorities have drawn up a report detailing the damage, but no suspects have been identified so far.
Shortly after, at 04:39, the police received a report of a car accident involving a deer on the E4 highway, north of Måttsund. Fortunately, there were no personal injuries reported as a result of the collision.
In addition to these incidents, there were other arrests made during the night. One individual was taken into custody for drunkenness, while another person was apprehended for suspected drug offenses. The latter suspect further faces charges of violent resistance and violence against an official.
Furthermore, the police conducted various checks on individuals and vehicles throughout the night. However, none of these checks resulted in any criminal suspicion.
The police summarized their work during the festival, highlighting the enforcement of the law on the handling of intoxicated persons (LOB). Thirteen individuals were taken into custody under this law during the night, and some individuals were also rejected or removed.
Despite these minor incidents, the atmosphere at the festival remained largely positive. The police noted their cooperation with social services throughout the evening, thanking them for their support. They also expressed their gratitude to the adult residents of Piteå who assisted in maintaining visibility and engaged in conversations with the younger attendees.
