Nine people died from methyl alcohol poisoning in Tyumen

In the Tyumen region, a criminal case was opened after poisoning with methyl alcohol with a fatal outcome. Nine people died from drinking methyl alcohol in Tyumen. Suspects in the sale of unlicensed alcohol-containing liquid face up to 10 years in prison.

“According to the investigation, in the period from January 3, 2022, in retail outlets located on the streets of Stavropolskaya and Rizhskaya in the city of Tyumen, several persons were selling to citizens an unlicensed alcohol-containing liquid (methyl alcohol), with a vodka label“ Springs of Siberia ”, which poses a danger to life and health of consumers ”, – reports the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia. As a result of ingestion of this liquid, nine people died, according to the UK.

Four people are suspected of committing a crime (born in 1971, 1993, 1974 and 1987), they are detained. A case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (the sale of goods and products that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life or health of consumers, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence). The punishment for this crime is up to 10 years in prison.

The investigation of the case is under the control of the leadership of the regional investigation department. The Regional Investigative Committee urged citizens to refrain from consuming surrogate alcohol with a vodka label “Springs of Siberia”.
