In Belarus, nine people died in fires during the day, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

On the afternoon of January 8, a fire broke out in a residential building in the village of Mamai, Glybotsky district, and the 59-year-old owner died. As the main version of the cause of the accident, careless handling of fire while smoking is considered.

On the same day, four people died in a fire in a private house in Slutsk. In the evening, rescuers found the dead 72-year-old owner, his 66-year-old roommate, and their guests, a 55-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman.

“Before the arrival of rescuers, a neighbor of the victims found a 44-year-old man on the floor of the veranda and took him out into the fresh air. He was hospitalized with poisoning by combustion products,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

The alleged cause of the fire, as in the previous case, is careless handling of fire when smoking.

The same factor probably caused the death of two Minsk men. On the night of January 9, an apartment in a five-story building in Klumava Lane was on fire. In it, rescuers found the dead – the 46-year-old owner and his 48-year-old guest.

On the night of January 9, a report was received about a fire in an apartment in the village of Sasnovy Bor, Svetlagor district. Rescuers found the body of the 64-year-old owner in the house.

In the evening of January 8, a house burned in the village of Savishchyna, Arsha district. The owner’s 89-year-old grandmother was found in it. The possible cause of the fire is a violation of the rules for operating electrical equipment.
