On stage, the pop star appears to be very close with singer Jenice. Nino de Angelo revealed to t-online whether the two are more than colleagues.
Nino de Angelo and Jenice were announced as “The new dream duo in the pop music world” last weekend in the “Giovanni Zarrella Show”. The two presented their joint single “Willst du mit mir gehn” – and seemed very familiar. They held hands behind the scenes, and there were kisses on stage.
The sparks fly between the pop stars in the video for the song too. The rumor mill is rife. “She looks amazing. All my friends envy me,” the 60-year-old enthuses about his duet partner in an interview with t-online. But they are no more than colleagues, because Nino de Angelo is “in the safest hands ever” with his partner Simone, he makes clear.
t-online: How did the collaboration with Jenice come about? Where do you know each other from?
Nino de Angelo: We’ve known each other for a while. Her manager is a very good friend of mine, who now also manages me. That’s why I’ve been keeping an eye on Jenice and watching what she’s been doing, and I liked that.
And how did “Will you go with me” come about?
I wrote the song 30 years ago. I sent it to Jenice and she said it was ‘a hit’. So I rewrote it and made it a duet. I’m always happy to help young artists and talents.
The song says, among other things: “I’ll carry my heart behind you and you’ll act as if nothing had happened.” How often have you carried your heart behind a woman in love?
I’ve had four marriages, four divorces, so I’ve done this four times. I was very sad after each divorce.
Have you found the right one in Simone?
I have found the love of my life and I will never risk that! I am just grateful that I persevered and always believed in the person I would meet. In the person who would accept me as I am and not mess around with me like a madman. Because that is fatal for a relationship. I am a crazy dog and she loves that about me. The secret is mutual acceptance.
You actually wanted to get married in Las Vegas on your 60th birthday. Is marriage still an option?
Our wedding is not off the table. We will definitely get married, but I want to be debt-free. My wife doesn’t have to marry a man who is in debt. I got hit hard again recently, but these 120,000 euros won’t hurt me. I’ll just have to work four weeks longer before I retire.
When do you expect to be debt free?
I think that will be at the end of the year. And once that issue is resolved, we will also take care of the wedding.
How is your health?
Perfect! I’ve just had a check-up and I’m in top shape. I have my lung disease COPD completely under control, I even gave a two-hour concert and could have continued singing for even longer.
