Nintendo Announces Shield Surfing in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Players can now redeem a Soldier’s Shield and Cart to embark on thrilling shield surfing adventures in the land of Hyrule. To redeem these items, players can follow a simple set of steps outlined by Nintendo.
The first step is to select the ‘News’ icon on the Switch Home Menu. Then, scroll to the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom news story titled “Shield Surfing: the Speedier Way to Get Around.” Within the news article, players can click ‘Play Now’ to initiate the process. After booting up Zelda and loading the game file, players will be able to “Receive a Soldier’s Shield and a Cart.”
Nintendo provides a brief explanation of shield surfing for those unfamiliar with the concept. They ask readers to consider what they envision when thinking about using a shield and suggest that it’s typically associated with blocking attacks. However, Nintendo reveals that shields can serve a dual purpose by transforming into a means of transportation.
