Nintendo to Release Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension Bundle

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are releasing a physical bundle on October 29, 2026, combining Pokémon Legends: Z-A for Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mega Dimension DLC on a single Game Card for $99.99, complete with 100 bonus Ultra Balls.

Nintendo is packaging the entire adventure into a single boxed release across North America and Europe. The package will also arrive in Japan.

The upcoming package brings together the core role-playing game and its post-launch expansion on one physical medium. Buyers can skip separate digital purchases and voucher codes entirely.

Mega Dimension Bundle Packs Content on One Card

The release carries the formal title Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension, collecting the base game and its major add-on directly on the cartridge. The expansion originally arrived on December 10, 2025, centering on spatial distortions appearing across Lumiose City and an expanded storyline involving the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa. In addition to the software, boxes will include a serial code redeemable via the Mystery Gift feature for 100 Ultra Balls.

This content expansion introduces new adventures in Lumiose City via portals created by Hoopa. It brings features such as temporarily controlling Pokémon at levels greater than 100.

Players will also encounter additional Mega Evolutions like Darkrai, Magearna, and Baxcalibur.

While designed to showcase the upgraded performance, resolution, and frame rates of Nintendo’s newer hardware, the cartridge remains compatible with original Nintendo Switch systems. Playing the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition on legacy hardware yields standard performance without the extra graphical features built for the newer console. Digital buyers have already been paying an identical $99.99 for the bundle through online storefronts, aligning the physical price directly with its digital counterpart.

Collectors Welcome Physical Media But Critics Question Value

The decision to place both the core software and the expansion directly onto physical media drew immediate praise from collectors and players wary of digital obsolescence.

DLC on the actual Game Card is the right call. That’s the copy people can still pop in and play 20 years from now.

Other community members echoed that sentiment. One user pointed out that opening a box should mean starting to play rather than collecting download codes. Not every player welcomed the re-release, though, with some critics dismissing the bundle as an unnecessary second chance for a game that failed to win them over initially. Still, for franchise completionists, physical cartridges containing integrated expansions have historically held strong value on the secondary market, mirroring the trajectory of earlier bundled releases like Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Retailers Stock Preorders Ahead of October Launch

Preorders have rolled out ahead of the October 29 launch date. Major storefronts including Amazon, Target, and Best Buy are handling day-one local pickups and physical deliveries, while the Pokémon Center offers direct ordering frequently paired with exclusive physical bonuses like pins or plush items.

The physical packaging offers a complete entry point for newcomers who missed the initial 2025 rollout that surpassed 12 million copies sold by the end of its debut year.

There is no major new mainline Pokémon entry scheduled for the holiday season.

For players who already own the base game and expansion separately, the physical cartridge offers little incentive outside of the 100 Ultra Balls and collector appeal. One user pointed out that opening a box should mean starting to play rather than collecting download codes.
