Makokou, July 11, 2024, (AGP) – The courtyard of the provincial branch of the General Directorate of Documentation and Immigration (DGDI) was teeming with people this Thursday in Makokou, on the fourth day of the launch of the operation to issue certificates of registration in the biometric register of natural persons, it was noted.
According to the local head of the DGDI, Colonel Paul Amour Émane, 1,257 people received their certificate during the first three days of the launch of this operation.
The excitement is palpable as the gate, the courtyard and the reception services are stormed in the early hours of the morning by candidates wishing to obtain the national identity card (CNI).
The DGDI officials have done everything possible to ensure the smooth running of the operation. Everyone is received and the applicants for the registration certificate leave, without having spent much time there.
« You must first have a voter card to facilitate this issue,” said the head of the Intelligence Division at the DGDI Makokou, Lieutenant Achil Pagès Moutsiangou.
He also listed some difficulties encountered with people newly enrolled in the lists and whose names do not yet appear in the file. They are invited to return in two to three weeks.
The three devices made available to the DGDI will subsequently be deployed in the three departmental capitals of Booué, Ovan and Mekambo. This could not satisfy the populations of rural areas, if the objective is to reach a maximum number of citizens who have been without this piece for several years, observers estimate.
To succeed, the police must go to the villages and proceed as is done during the registration in the electoral lists.
