The Nissan Murano has changed generations in the US, after the last version of the popular Japanese SUV has been on the market for 10 years. Logically, the exterior and interior of the crossover have been radically changed. The Murano is both bigger and more spacious, has new electronic assistants, and analogue instruments are a thing of the past. Big changes have also taken place under the hood.
While the Murano has added a few millimeters in height and length, the width has increased by 66 millimeters, making the interior and trunk more spacious. Now its volume is 932 liters instead of the previous 909 liters. There is 20 millimeters more space between the rows of seats.
Other changes include increased ground clearance, which is now 211 millimeters against the predecessor’s 175 mm.
The atmospheric 3.5-liter 264-horsepower engine is a thing of the past, instead, the fourth-generation Murano gets the 2.0-liter turbo gasoline 4-cylinder engine familiar from Infiniti models. It develops 244 horsepower and can change the compression ratio from 14:1 to 8:1.
Instead of a CVT, there is now a classic nine-speed automatic gearbox. The base crossover has front-wheel drive, while all other versions are all-wheel drive, with a rear-axle clutch.
