Nissan Recalls 236,000 Sentra Sedans Over Steering Wheel Issues
In a recent announcement, Nissan has issued a recall for approximately 236,000 Sentra sedans between the 2020 and 2022 model years due to steering wheel issues. The recall has been initiated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) after it was discovered that these vehicles have a weak tie rod in the steering wheel, which may bend or break, leading to a potential loss of steering control and possible accidents.
The recall report states that any Sentra drivers who feel that their steering is unstable or off-center are advised to contact their local dealer immediately. Nissan has assured customers that the tie rods will be replaced with strengthened replacement parts until a permanent solution can be installed in the future.
This is not the first time Nissan has issued a recall for this particular issue. In 2021, the automaker had recalled a smaller group of Sentra vehicles, affecting just under 140,000 units. However, it is important to note that vehicles repaired in the previous recall do not require new parts.
To address the issue promptly, Nissan plans to reach out to all affected drivers by October 5. The company will also send another letter once a final replacement part is available. Customers are urged to keep an eye out for communication from Nissan regarding this recall.
