Colombo: Two people collapsed and died while queuing to get fuel and food grains in Sri Lanka. People die when the country is reeling under severe economic crisis. After the ration of food grains and fuel, people have to queue for weeks in every town. Two elderly people collapsed while standing in line.

After the downfall of Sri Lanka’s government, the aid received from countries including India is being given to alleviate the hunger of the people. Meanwhile, the army is deployed in front of all food depots and petrol pumps to control the queue.

Public anger against the Rajapakse family led to the occupation of the President’s official residence and the burning of the Prime Minister’s private residence. Former Prime Minister Renil Wickremesinghe took over as the new president after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled the country. Following this, Dinesh Gunawardene has been appointed as the Prime Minister yesterday.
