Riyadh: The secretary of the Saudi National Tobacco Control Committee has said that there are currently no plans to increase tobacco prices in Saudi Arabia and that his statement has been misinterpreted.
Al-Qahtani said his talk about the rise in tobacco prices was based on global studies and recommendations and did not currently plan to raise prices.
Al-Qahtani’s TV statement quoted several newspapers and websites as saying that the price of tobacco was likely to rise by 150% soon.
