Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque said that no matter how many protests and struggles are done on the streets, the government will not do anything by bypassing the Supreme Court on the issue of quota reform.

He said, a question has come up regarding whether to keep the quota or not. Basically, the government has nothing to do by bypassing the court in this matter. Rather, we will wait for the court’s verdict. We will respect and implement the Supreme Court. No matter how much movement there is, I will not bypass the Supreme Court, I will not do anything.

He said this in the speech of the chief guest at a seminar organized at the National Press Club on Tuesday (July 16).

Bangladesh Progressive Columnists Forum organized the seminar titled ‘Injustice in Bangladesh: Illegal Law Indemnity and Imprisoned Public Leaders’.
The seminar was presided over by the former Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University. Mizanur Rahman. Special guest was Member of Parliament Tarana Halim, member of University Grants Commission (UGC) Professor Dr. Biswajit Chand

The main article was presented by the General Secretary of the Progressive Columnist Forum. Milton believes. The Vice-Chancellor of the National University also spoke at the seminar. Moshiur Rahman, former vice-chancellor of Islamic University. Rashid Askari, Assistant Private Secretary to the President and columnist Haider Mohammad Jitu and others.

Anisul Haque said, we think that since the matter (quota reform) has gone to court and it is still pending. What can the government do at such a moment? Yes, can wait to know what advice or verdict comes from the court. That is what we are doing now.

I think one thing should be clarified. That is – the government of public leader Sheikh Hasina must listen to the logic. Sheikh Hasina’s government must do what is good for the people. But remember that the government of People’s Leader Sheikh Hasina will not deviate from ideals. What is that ideal? Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation of Bangladesh, Bangladesh’s liberation war and heroic freedom fighter. No one can destroy the spirit of liberation war. No one can disrespect the brave freedom fighters’ – added the law minister.

The minister said that the quota has been cancelled. The children of our freedom fighters went to the court about that. After a long hearing, the High Court gave a verdict. An appeal was filed against that verdict. The protest started in the meantime. The court then asked the students to focus on their own work i.e. studies. At the same time he assured.

In that assurance, it is said that the spontaneous protesting students can present their statement in the court. The court will take their statements into consideration while disposing of the original petition. Even after the Supreme Court gave them this assurance, is there any need to move? Then there is no need for the slogan that has been given,’ he commented.
