THE Antonis Fragakis he gave a full interview and talked about his career, but also the environment in which he grew up.
The former model was a guest on the show “Studio 4″ and first,he referred to his family,which he described as ”tough”.
“My father was a military man. A tough environment. Very tight schedule, we didn’t watch TV, we weren’t allowed to go out. It was all very predictable. And as we lived far from the centre of Athens,in Kifissia,it was very difficult to go out. It’s not like you went down the street and found other people and went on a trip.” he explained.

Than he added: “The environment was humming,so I never felt like I was rebelling against anything,because I was just looking for oxygen. I left for Paris with a loan from a friend. I was 22 at the time.”
Regarding his difficulties which played a role later in his career, he mentioned that no one from his environment ever recognized him.
“They didn’t tell me I was handsome. fortunately, I lived in an environment where they didn’t tell me that. I thank my school and my family for two things. There is no knowledge of the importance of money and nothing to do with appearance. No one told me I was lovely. We are talking about 40 years ago. It didn’t really put me off big deals, because you’re in a space where everyone is cool anyway.When you model, everyone is beautiful.” he said in closing.

Antonis Fragakis: Thank you for having me. I grew up in Kifissia, a suburb of Athens, in a rather tough family surroundings. My father was a military man, and our household was very structured. We had strict rules – no television and limited social outings. This predictability made life very controlled.

Antonis Fragakis: Absolutely, it was a challenge.The environment felt stifling at times, and I often sought ‘oxygen’ or freedom.Eventually, I decided to leave for Paris at the age of 22, taking a loan from a freind to make it happen. That leap was crucial for my personal growth and career.
Time.news Editor: You mentioned that no one in your life acknowledged your looks during your upbringing. How did that impact your confidence in pursuing modeling?
Antonis Fragakis: Growing up, nobody ever told me I was handsome, and I’m grateful for that. My family and school taught me not to focus on appearance or money. In the modeling world, though, everyone is stunning, so I didn’t feel pressured. the lack of external validation helped me maintain my humility and focus on what was truly vital—my craft.
Time.news Editor: That perspective is refreshing. What advice would you give to aspiring models and those wanting to break into the fashion industry today?
antonis fragakis: my key advice is to stay grounded and true to yourself. The industry can be superficial at times, but staying focused on your passions and not being swayed by external opinions is vital. Surround yourself with supportive people who remind you of your worth beyond looks.

Antonis fragakis: One of the main challenges was the fierce competition in the modeling world. It was daunting knowing how many others were vying for the same opportunities.However, my inner strength and determination, fostered by my upbringing, helped me navigate these challenges effectively.

Antonis Fragakis: The industry is evolving, thankfully. Ther’s a growing awareness of mental health and the unrealistic beauty standards that have plagued us for decades. Models today are more vocal about their experiences, and there’s a push towards more diversity and authenticity in fashion. We’re moving towards a more realistic portrayal of beauty.
