The authorities of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands said that at the moment there is no information about the victims of the volcanic eruption on the island of La Palma, which occurred on Sunday. The island’s population and tourists were notified of the need to evacuate immediately after the eruption began. The Canary Islands Health Service has provided the necessary resources and medical equipment to help the people on the island.

As the Spanish portal Alerta Zeta clarifies, at the moment medical teams are providing assistance to about 50 disabled people previously evacuated from dangerous areas. The eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano began on Sunday. This was preceded by violent seismic activity in the region – more than 21 thousand tremors were recorded on La Palma over the past week.

Spanish TV channels and eyewitnesses who are currently on the island are posting footage of the aftermath of the volcanic eruption on social networks. They show that imposing lava flows have cut several paved roads on the island, as well as swallowed up several houses and other structures.
