Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that the law and order forces did not arrest or torture any ordinary student. Those directly involved in terrorism and violence are being arrested only on specific information.
In a statement on Monday (July 29), he said that ordinary students are being provoked by spreading rumors on social media against the law enforcement agencies. Cyber terrorists are spreading misinformation against the country by sending false information and fake pictures to the international media.
Obaidul Quader said that the armed cadres of BNP-Jamaat have made a well-planned attack on various important facilities of the state including Metrorail, BTV.
General Secretary of Awami League said, ‘We want to say clearly that all those who are involved in the shameful destruction and killings of history will be brought under the law. The government will show utmost strictness to protect the peace, order and security of the people.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is making ‘politically motivated misleading and provocative’ statements, he strongly condemned and protested in the statement.
General Secretary of Awami League said that BNP leaders including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir have targeted the current government by placing guns on the shoulders of young students. Conspiracy and anarchy are now their only strategy to seize power after being repeatedly rejected by the people. Whenever they see any movement, they become frantic to infiltrate and shape the anti-government movement.
He said that the students have protested with their demands and the government has fulfilled all their demands. However, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is now demanding the resignation of the government. The demand for resignation of the government is only from BNP-Jamaat, an anti-government or anti-national force. In a democratic regime, change of government is possible only through popular vote. Sheikh Hasina’s government is running the country in a constitutional manner with the verdict of the people. In the face of all the provocations and anarchy, the government has exercised utmost patience and restraint and is making constant efforts to protect the people from the terror-violence of BNP-Jamaat.
Obaidul Quader said that the investigation commission has been constituted by the government for the proper investigation of every murder in terror-violence, and the government is determined to bring those involved in the murder to justice subject to the investigation.
He said that Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that the list of those killed in the movement has not been published. However, on behalf of the government, the Home Minister disclosed the number of people killed in terrorism-violence and sabotage to the media. Before the investigation process is over, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is trying to divert the matter by commenting on these murders.
Commenting that Mirza Fakhrul and BNP-Jamaat are desperate to seize power in any way, the general secretary of Awami League said that law enforcement forces have identified the supporters and financiers of these terrorist incidents based on specific information and the process of arresting them is ongoing.
He said, ‘The anti-national evil forces including BNP-Jamaat have continued to conspire to make Bangladesh a failed state and disrupt the progress of this country. The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Awami League are united under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina and are determined to protect the democracy, development and progress achieved by the country at the cost of their lives.
