A total of four persons were saved from drowning, as well as 12 rescue operations on the water, when persons with various watercraft – suffocated motorboats, paddleboards, inflatable mattresses – could not reach the shore on their own.
During the season, first aid was provided 80 times, and 12 lost children were found.
Outside the official swimming areas, at the request of other bodies, searches for drowned persons were conducted 12 times and three drowned persons were found. Therefore, the municipality reminds that it is safest to use official swimming areas for recreation.
This year, the Riga municipal police inspected 569 vessels, as well as 1,532 persons during the control of compliance with fishing and fishing regulations.
Protocols have been drawn up for 182 persons for the violations specified in the Maritime Administration and Maritime Safety Law, while 156 administrative violation cases have been initiated for the violations specified in the Fisheries Law.
On the weekend of September 15, the official swimming season will end in Riga and Latvia.
