No price increase is expected for the Xbox and Switch

Following Sony’s announcement of an immediate increase in the prices of the PlayStation 5 console in most countries of the world, many wondered whether Microsoft and Nintendo were going to line up and also announce an increase in price. It seems that at least for now, the answer is no.

Microsoft clarifies that the company does not intend to announce any change in the prices of the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles. Both consoles will maintain their recommended price in all markets and in all currencies, including dollars, euros and pounds. That means $299 or €300 for the Xbox Series S, and $499 or €500 for the bigger and more powerful Series X.

Nintendo also responds that as of this moment, the company has no intention of announcing any price changes. “We have no plans to change the prices of our products due to inflation or an increase in component prices throughout the country. Our price policy will be determined through a careful and continuous examination of the market situation.’

It should be noted that the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, like the PlayStation 5, are products that suffer from ongoing inventory problems in many markets. In this situation, many stores do not offer the console for sale at all except as part of a package that includes accessories and additional games, which makes its cost even higher.
