No risks were reported with the reservoirs on the territory of Sofia Region during a meeting of the Regional Council for Disaster Risk Reduction. This was reported to BTA by the press center of the Regional Administration. Today, the council held an emergency meeting in compliance with the order of acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, which was led by deputy regional governors Tsanko Tsakov and Tanya Ivanova. Representatives of the competent institutions and municipalities from the Sofia region participated in it.

At the meeting, the state of all artificial and natural reservoirs, riverbeds, gullies and sewage infrastructure in the territory of the district was discussed, informed the Regional Administration. The representatives of the municipalities reported on their readiness to respond adequately to possible disasters. A report on the results of the meeting will be presented to Acting Prime Minister Glavchev in due course, the administration added.

Earlier today, the Acting Minister of the Environment and Waters Petar Dimitrov said from the rostrum of the National Assembly that the prolonged drought, high temperatures, lack of precipitation, snow cover, mild winter, lack of spring floods are a complex of factors that affect and lead to a reduction in surface water runoff and shallow underground aquifers. He emphasized the need for new facilities and the maintenance of old ones. According to him, there should be a state policy in this direction.
