Chennai: The Chennai High Court has issued an important order to the Tamil Nadu government in a case related to Tasmac stores.
Arun, a resident of Tiruvallur district, had filed a case in the Chennai High Court seeking an injunction against the opening of a Tasmac store in Yashini Nagar, a village in Gummidipoondi taluka.
The case came up for hearing today before Chennai High Court Chief Justice Munishwarnath Bandari and Justice Bharatha Chakraborty.
Prosecuting attorney at the time said the Tasmac store would not open there, as Yashini Nagar, originally in the village, is located on arable land. Further, the lawyer noted that it would be allowed to set up in the appropriate place in accordance with the rules of law.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the judges closed the case by ordering that Tasmac stores should not be allowed to be set up on agricultural land.
