New Delhi: The Supreme Court has refused to immediately stay the High Court judgment quashing the appointment of Kerala Fisheries University (KUFOS) Vice-Chancellor. UGC for agricultural universities Senior advocate Jaideep Gupta argued that the High Court had passed the judgment without considering the fact that the statute was not applicable. Agricultural education and research are included in the State List under List II of the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution. Therefore the University of Fisheries has been approved by the UGC. Rule does not apply. UGC in 1998, 2010 and 2018 Gupta also pointed out that agricultural universities have been exempted from the ambit of the rules.
