Sweden is known for its supposedly open-mindedness. And, according to netizens, there is new evidence of this. The Scandinavian country would be the “first in the world to officially register sex as a sport… according to Dragan Bratych, president of the Swedish sex federation”, writes thus a Twitter user.
The city of Gothenburg, in the south-west of the country, would even have hosted the first edition of the European Sex Championship, on June 8. According to information shared by Internet users and certain media, the participants compete for several weeks and sometimes several hours a day. Each “match” can even last between 45 minutes and an hour.

The “athletes” are judged on the basis of numerous criteria: seduction, chemistry, endurance, number of orgasms… The honor goes to the jury, but also to the public, to classify the competitors. Each “match” is scored out of a total of 16 points. At each step, participants can choose to continue or stop.

FAKE OFF
Innovative country, yes, but not yet to the point of organizing an official sex competition. However, the enthusiasm around the competition was strong on social networks. But where does this fake news come from? First of all, there is a Federation of Swedish Sex (FSS), but it is not recognized by the Swedish National Sports Confederation, the national institutional body in charge of these matters.
This federation smoker owns an Internet site, on which are detailed all the rules and conditions that govern this sport – including, of course, the obligation to be of legal age. The FSS has been led since its creation in 2016 by Dragan Bratych, a manager of several strip clubs in the Jönköping region.
The request for official recognition rejected without examination
According to Gothenburg Post, one of Sweden’s leading newspapers, Dragan Bratych filed an application in January with the Swedish National Sports Confederation to have the practice of sex officially recognized as a sport. This was rejected without being examined and described as “dumbness”.
“The applicant organization was ordered to complete it and thus remedy the shortcomings. The applicant organization has not complied with the order and the shortcomings are such that the application cannot be considered in substance, in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 10, Section 2 of the statutes of the Swedish National Confederation of Sport. The request must therefore be rejected without examination on the merits,” the organization said in a press release. Sex is therefore not an official national sport in Sweden.
An unofficial championship that turns into a fiasco
The championships are not more official. However, a “competition” does take place. On a Twitter account relayed by the FSS website, each participant is presented. There are actors and actresses from the porn industry from Portugal, England, Croatia, but also from France.
Potential spectators were invited to connect to a site (reserved for an adult public) in order to watch the events live. But this first edition was, it seems, not successful. According to a message posted by the federation on June 17, all competitors have been disqualified. “Competitors from Romania and Croatia withdraw from the competition for personal reasons. The other competitors were disqualified for several reasons,” they wrote on Twitter.
