Election strategist Prashant Kishore said the third team could not always win the election and only the second team could defeat the BJP.
In an interview today, he was asked about reports that he would help West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s party, the Trinamool Congress, emerge as the third largest party in the coming 2024 general elections.
To which he said: –
“No third party in our country can win the election.
Any party that wants to defeat the BJP must form a second front.
The Congress is the second largest party in the country. But it was not the second team.
The Congress leadership and I agreed on many things regarding the future plan of the Congress Party.
But they can do it, and they have many great leaders.
I do not need them. I do not want any role in the party, once a map for the future is agreed upon, it must be implemented. That’s exactly what I wanted.
The empowered executive committee is responsible for implementing the changes in the Congress party. They wanted me to be part of an empowered executive committee. But I had some doubts about that committee.
For the first time since 2014, the Congress party has discussed its future in its structured way.
This is a very deeply rooted party. It would be wrong to say that the Congress party has no chance against the BJP in the future, but they need to make some changes.
