Israel’s youth basketball team did miss the opportunity to reach the Under-19 World Championship for the first time in its history, but the ability that Noam Yaacov displayed in the tournament certainly received the attention it deserved. The star of the team, who plays in the French Villerban, was selected last night (Sunday) for the top five of the season in the European Youth Championship held last week.
The talented center finished the championship with great data that included an average of 19.3 points per game (second in the tournament), 6 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 6 assists (first in the tournament), 50 percent for twos, 39.3 percent for 3s on the way to 20.6 index points on average (third in the tournament) in -28.6 minutes per game.

The Israeli national team reached the quarterfinals of the championship and lost 68:62 to Serbia, which prevented them from qualifying for the semifinals for the first time since 1972. The blue-whites could still reach the World Championship that will be held next summer if they managed to finish in fifth place, but they lost to Italy and Lithuania and finished the tournament in 1st place. -8.
