At its meeting on November 22, the board of directors of the Santander Port Authority (Spain) has approved the granting of a 1,000 m² area on the northern breakwater of Raos to Noatum Terminal Polivalente.

The terminal operator plans to use this space in the Cantabrian public domain over the next four years for the installation of two mobile modules. These will be used for port activities related to the handling of goods on ro-ro platforms, management of stevedoring personnel, field management, loading and unloading of cars and goods, as well as documentation management and control activities.

In relation to this concession, those responsible for the Santander port have established an occupancy rate of 6,905.60 euros per year, in addition to an activity rate of 1,381.12 euros per year.

Noatum joined the Emirati conglomerate AD Ports Group at the end of June, after obtaining final approval from the Spanish authorities for the operation. This business movement, which began in November 2022 with a total amount of 660 million euros, had already received approval from the European Commission.

In addition to being interested in the extension of their collaboration with maritime operators in the area, the Port of Santander and the city council of the Cantabrian capital have revealed an exciting joint project that aims to evaluate the impact of cruise activity in the city and throughout the region. In order to involve the port and tourism sector in this initiative, the results of the study will be presented at the Fitur holidaywhich will take place in Madrid in January 2024.
