Nobel Prize awarded for research on the benefits of beards and the connection between the weight of politicians and corruption

On Thursday, September 9, Harvard hosted the 31st Shnobel Prize, or Ignobel Prize Ceremony. In total, the award was presented in ten nominations, the entire ceremony was held online.

Among the laureates were:

  • US researchers who tested the hypothesis that a beard protects against blows to the face;
  • Swedish scientists who have studied the ways in which cats and humans interact;
  • a group of researchers who decided to analyze how violence or sex scenes in a film affect the smell of viewers in the cinema;
  • scientists who have studied the correlation between the weight of politicians and the level of corruption in the country.

The Shnobel Prize was established in 1991 as the antipode of the Nobel Prize. According to the official wording, the prize is awarded “for achievements that make you laugh at first and then make you think”.

For which they were awarded the Shnobel Prize in 2020 – in the publication of Kommersant “The Economy of the Kiss, Management of Hired Assassins and Other Achievements.”
