Gonzalo Ortiz Crespo, journalist and sociologist, offered an analysis of the country’s situation and highlighted that the repetition of political errors and the lack of leadership, as well as economic and security challenges, aggravate the existing crisis.

In an interview with Ecuavisa, Ortiz criticized the alliance between the government and Correa’s supporters, especially in the appointment of the president of the Judicial Council, describing it as an effort to reverse the sentences against figures such as Rafael Correa and Jorge Glas, so that they can return to politics. “It is a shameful alliance that only seeks to overthrow confirmed trials,” he said.

Regarding the leadership of President Daniel Noboa, he said that he is lacking and that, in his opinion, it is not enough to appear on social media, because “TikTok does not replace ideas.” Ortiz said that a clear plan and effective communication with citizens are needed to move the country’s economy forward, which is stagnant, and to guarantee security.

The journalist stressed that there is a lack of trust in institutions and a disconnect between politics and the real needs of the people.

“Politics has become a power struggle, with little interest in the country’s well-being. Citizens seem disconnected and more concerned with their daily survival,” he said, noting that the lack of trust affects both public and private investment, and foreign investment is not coming due to instability.

Finally, Ortiz suggested that the president should call for a national dialogue to address Ecuador’s main problems. “A social pact is needed to face the most urgent challenges. Effective communication and a clear plan are essential to regain trust and guide the country towards a better future.”
