‘Nobody Wants This’ renewed for Season 3 at Netflix, Hints at Major Plot Advancement

Netflix has greenlit a third season of the hit romantic comedy nobody Wants This, starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, with a planned premiere date in 2026. The renewal, announced just 12 days after the release of the show’s second season on October 23, signals continued confidence in the series’ performance and audience appeal.

Season 2 of the show quickly resonated with viewers, amassing 18 million views globally in its first 11 days. This performance secured the top spot on Netflix’s Global English TV list for two consecutive weeks and landed the series in the Top 10 in an extraordinary 82 countries. While slightly below the 26.2 million views garnered by Season 1 during its initial 11 days, the show’s second outing proved particularly strong given its focus on the more nuanced realities of established relationships.

According too sources close to the production, the upcoming third season is poised to introduce a critically important storyline: a potential conversion to Judaism for Joanne, portrayed by Bell-a development subtly foreshadowed in the Season 2 finale. This shift in narrative pace follows a second season that largely explored the challenges of blending two lives together after the initial spark of romance.

The success of Season 2 also had a ripple effect, bringing the first season back into the spotlight. It re-entered Netflix’s Top 10 list at No. 7 the week of October 27, and has now spent a total of eight weeks in the top 10, reaching audiences in 89 countries.

Streaming data further underscores the show’s popularity. For the week of October 24-30, Nobody Wants This dominated Luminate’s Top 50 U.S. Streaming Viewership chart, racking up 21.9 million hours watched – a remarkable feat for a half-hour comedy. Season 2 itself landed at No. 14 with 3.6 million hours viewed.

“I couldn’t be more excited to head into a third season of this show,” said the series creator, Erin Foster. “It is indeed a privilege to be able to write about my favorite couple on a scale like this. As long as it doesn’t take too much time away from me watching reality TV at night, I’ll do it for as long as they want me to.”

notably, the renewal process for Season 3 differed from the previous cycle. Unlike the Season 2 pickup, which came 14 days after the series debut, this renewal maintains the existing showrunning team. Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan will continue to helm the series, and production will remain based in Los Angeles.

“We are so grateful to Netflix and 20th for giving us another season of Nobody Wants This,” Konner and Kaplan stated.”This job is criminally fun. Working with the uniquely gifted Erin Foster, this amazing cast of talented, hilarious pros, amazing writers and astonishing crew has been a truly great experience. Go Dodgers!”

The series boasts an impressive list of executive producers, including Erin Foster, Sara Foster, Konner, Kaplan, Steven Levitan, Bell, Danielle Stokdyk, Jeff Morton, Nora Silver, and 3 Arts’ Oly Obst. Production is handled by 20th Television.

Alongside Bell and Brody, the core cast includes Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, and Jackie Tohn. Season 2 explored the theme of “first comes love, then comes life,” following agnostic podcast host Joanne and unconventional rabbi Noah as they navigated the complexities of merging thier lives and families. The challenge now, as the show suggests, is not simply finding love, but sustaining it amidst ongoing differences.

The continued success of Nobody Wants This demonstrates netflix’s appetite for relatable,character-driven comedies that resonate with a global audience, and signals a promising future for the series as it enters its third season.
