Kilbrin, County Cork — Noel Heffernan, a beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away peacefully at Cork University Hospital (CUH) on Monday, February 9th, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 78.

The Kilbrin community is reeling from the loss of a man remembered for his kindness and devotion to his family.

  • Reposing will be held at O’Keeffe’s Funeral Home in Buttevant, County Cork.

What impact did Noel Heffernan have on his community? He was a deeply respected figure, known for his warm personality and unwavering support of those around him, leaving a void felt by many in Kilbrin and beyond.

Mr. Heffernan was the devoted husband of Geraldine (née Guiney) and a much-loved father to Darren and Nikki. He was also a beloved son of Eily and the late Jeremiah, and a dear brother to Dermot, Kathleen (Curtin), William, Eileen (Connery), Adrian, and Claire (Tarrant). He is predeceased by his siblings, Mary and Brian.

His passing is deeply mourned by his future daughter-in-law, Sansrutik, mother-in-law Noreen, as well as a wide circle of uncles, aunts, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives, neighbours, and friends.

The family has expressed their sincere gratitude to the First Responders, Helicopter Crew, and the dedicated staff at Cork University Hospital for their compassionate care during Noel’s final hours.

Reposing will take place at O’Keeffe’s Funeral Home, Bank Place, Buttevant, County Cork (P51 N2NP) on Wednesday evening from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, followed by Prayers. The reception into St. John the Baptist Church, Kilbrin, will be on Thursday morning for Requiem Mass at 12 noon, after which Mr. Heffernan will be laid to rest in the local cemetery.
