It had already been suggested that HMD was planning a new edition of the Nokia 3210 25 years later. Now the first cell phone for the mass market, including an internally built-in antenna, is back with a modernized design and the latest technology.
25 years later: The Nokia 3210 is back!
HMD Global already has that Nokia 3310* reissued and now also brings back the previous model from 1999. The original was an absolute bestseller (160 million units sold) thanks to innovations such as the integrated antenna, the T9 keyboard and the robust housing.
The new edition is now reminiscent of the original. Although HMD Global adopts the two-tone design, the case is much more rounded. The new model’s display is significantly larger with a diagonal of 2.4 inches, and it even has a 2 megapixel camera and an LED flash on the back, which were not available on the original.
At least the Finns retain one virtue of the old Nokia 3210: the 1,450 mAh battery can be replaced in a matter of seconds, which increases the battery life from 4.5 hours to 9.5 hours when making calls.
With a USB Type-C port, the device allows charging with modern cables, while a 3.5 mm analog headphone jack and Bluetooth 5.0 are available for both wired and wireless headphone connection. In addition to an integrated MP3 player, the device also supports FM radio.
The snake cannot be missed!
The S30+ operating system deliberately avoids apps to minimize distractions, but without the classic Snake it wouldn’t be a Nokia 3210. Inside is a Unisoc Tiger T107, an entry-level processor. Thanks to the integrated LTE modem, the device should offer better reception than the original.
The 122 x 52 millimeter new Nokia 3210 4G is now available HMD online shop available for 79.99 euros, available in Scuba Blue, Grunge Black and Y2K Gold (yellow). It is offered exclusively with 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of flash storage, which can be expanded up to 32 GB using a microSD card. Delivery will begin on May 10, 2024.
