Chennai: The filing of nominations for the Rajya Sabha elections ended yesterday. Nominations are due to be considered today. All the six who have filed petitions on behalf of political parties are up for election without contest.
The term of office of the six MPs elected to the Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu ends on the 29th of this month. Therefore, elections have been declared to elect six new Rajya Sabha MPs. On the 24th, at the General Secretariat, the filing of nominations began.
DMK, on behalf of, Kalyanasundaram, Rajeshkumar, Girirajan; On behalf of the Congress, former Union Minister Chidambaram; On behalf of the AIADMK, former ministers CV Shanmugam and Dharmar filed the petition. Apart from these, independent candidates Padmarajan, Agni Sriramachandran, Manmadhan, Kandasamy, Sundaramoorthy, Velmurugan Cholakanar and Devarajan have filed petitions.
By 3:00 pm yesterday, the petition was closed. At 11:00 am today, the nominations will be considered under the chairmanship of Returning Officer Srinivasan. Independent candidates ‘petitions will be dismissed due to lack of MLAs’ proposal. Therefore, only six political party candidates are likely to be in the fray.
The last day to withdraw the nomination is the 3rd. Due to the absence of a contest, a formal announcement will be made at 6:00 pm on that day that six MPs have been elected without contest.
Chidambaram has assets worth Rs 138.23 crore
Details of the assets of the political party candidates who have filed their petitions for the Rajya Sabha elections have been released.
Cong., – Chidambaram:
In his candidature, he has given details of two cases pending before the CBI and two cases with the Enforcement Division. He said a chargesheet had been filed in court over allegations that the Foreign Investment Promotion Board allowed the investments of INX, Media and Aircel Maxis.
In his name, Rs 135.45 crore; 17.39 crore movable property in the name of wife; 2.78 crore in the name of Chidambaram; In the name of the wife, he has immovable assets worth Rs 26.53 crore. Chidambaram has given a loan of Rs 5 crore to his wife. He has a debt of Rs 76.46 lakh in the name of Chidambaram and Rs 5 crore in the name of his wife.

8.76 lakh in his name; 18.45 lakh movable and immovable property; 27.22 lakh movable property in the name of wife; He also has immovable property worth Rs 2.10 crore. He said he has eight cases against him politically.

14.49 lakh in his name; 22.85 lakh in the name of the eldest daughter, Rs. 13.20 lakh in the name of the second daughter, Rs. 62.37 lakh in the name of Dharmar and Rs. 17.09 lakh in the name of the wife.
